Community Organizer Training Program
Since fall 2019, two senior staff members have been participating in a year-long Community Organizer Training Program through Innovate Public Schools in California. Innovate is a national leader in organizing school parents and others invested in quality schools. The program includes coaching support from a veteran organizer. This coaching, combined with input from other experts, has informed City Forward Collective’s initial three-year organizing goals and strategy.
Parent Leadership Institute
We accepted 12 Milwaukee parent leaders from a pool of 25 applicants to receive scholarships to attend Innovate’s Parent Leadership Institute, now postponed from March to September. This initial cohort of parent leaders will seed our organizing strategy, serving as a springboard for broader direct organizing work focused primarily on parents and other caregivers.
Hiring Community Organizers
Two community organizers will be hired this summer to lead the parent and community organizing work.
